History

Project RISHI is a student-run, non-profit organization registered in the United States and India. It was founded in 2005 at UCLA by Dr. Eri Srivatsan. Project RISHI Berkeley, founded in 2008, began working with the village of Bharog Baneri, Himachal Pradesh, in 2012.

Location

Bharog Baneri is a village of 1,400 people in the Sirmaur District of Himachal Pradesh, India. Close to the Himalayan foothills, it has hilly terrain and lies roughly a mile above sea level. The village is split into 5 wards, with 1 school and a primary health center.
